Chakra Wisdom Moving Meditation
Facilitated by Jim Macdonald
We return our focus to the key of movement in week 6 of the 10-week intimacy workshop series. We move because our bodies tend to be stuck in habits. Thinking about and even merely meditating on an answer likely will go nowhere if it cannot be received by your body. Moving, and even better, sounding while you move, can be a powerful way to rewire the body into new habits, particularly ones that give the body permission to move outside of socially acceptable norms.
In the Chakra Wisdom moving meditation, we will be seeking out a question that we have never been able to answer for ourselves. We will seek that wisdom in our body, particularly the chakras, which in this understanding, are seven energy centers that represent different aspects through which we experience ourselves and the world. The chakras at a simplistic level relate to basic physicality (root), emotions (sacral), activity (solar plexus), love (heart), expression (throat), intuition (third eye), and connection (crown). By moving to chakra-resonant music while we consider this question from these aspects, poignant insights are possible.
I never would have been a Chakradance facilitator or an intimacy practitioner had I once not had a transformational experience with this meditation. And while I cannot promise that you will similarly have transformative experiences, I find that movement is good for its own sake, and being open to the messages that arise in movement – even where the message that arises is unclear, confusing, or perhaps non-existent – can only be helpful.
We will, as we do throughout this workshop series, have the chance to share our experience and insights with others inside the sacred space container.
The suggested price for this workshop is $25, but all of these workshops are pay what you can (even if what you can is $0).
Space for all these workshops is limited; so please RSVP to guarantee your spot.
